It happened on a whim, but I added a Teachers and Librarians Resource Page as a separate go-to resource under the Downloads tab. As the name reveals, this page is focused on those who are bringing education to the young. I am isolating this as a resource because this requires particular care and also love. Also, I will be upfront about something that strikes me: educators are a great vector for the ligitimate, careful and thoughtful spread of The Salaam Matrix.
While I was first focusing on governments, professors and business leaders as prime users and reviewers, I am doing a double take. I realize that TEACHERS are a tough people. They are thorough, methodical, careful, and they care a lot for young. In fact, one day some weeks earlier I had a major stress crash just thinking about the release of this model in an educational setting. That led me on a loooong and winding road, and I created an entire part in the Codex to focus on Safety and building internal regulation. That, in fact, took me way deep down and I began querying AI models about the containment of The Salaam Matrix, and AI safety itself. Weeks later, that rabbit hole has turned into a reality.
Meanwhile, I am re-emerging, and focusing back on where I started, Education for the Young. I think what drives me back to this sector is that I am raising a young child and I am also deeply worried about the crises that are emerging for the children and the youth the world over, especially in my country Pakistan, right now. Children are facing unprecedented accidents, threats and crimes. Parents are rethinking schooling. Teachers are panicking for resources and support.
All this percolated in my psyche I am sure, and this past week I saw myself creating this page and start plugging it with content. For now, there is a video link that shares how The Salaam Matrix (SMX) can be used to develop a comprehensive curriculum for children. A PDF summary of the same is available.
I am also going to post Facilitator Notes and Teacher’s Tools on that page, insha’Allah, so teachers (and librarians) can begin understanding this model and its applications, and have facilitator notes for when and if they use our exercises.
All this is developing; I will keep adding and subtracting until its both lean and sufficient.
I am also working to develop Roza, a persona that will be in my mind as I develop content for this page. Roza is a composite of a teacher, librarian, facilitator and guide. She is smart and compassionate but keeps eyes out on rules and guides the users to completion and abidance by the rules and process while making best use of the content and learning materials. I have a great role model in mind, a fictional persona, a friendly character who is both communal and friendly and compassionate, and also sharp and has eye for detail as well as immense practicality. Roza also incorporates many teachers I think of, and people who read documents to internalize rules, which is something I am somehow very particular about.
