Salaam. As of today, I have decided to stop chewing my nails in regret and anxiety (figuratively) and make strategic use of AI in the development of the core codex of The Salaam Matrix.
What once started off as a Four Zones model of human life for use by product developer MBAs, is now a complex model of governance, guardianship and integration. The codex is developing nearly daily and getting detailed, and fractal. In the background, the details are being discussed with and in some part being managed with the AIs that I am using as my main sounding board and memory keepers, as well as cold testers (untrained AI exposed to the website, data and ideas, asked for their evaluation).
There is use of some generative AI as well.
All ideas, and writing are mine, except when a completed piece is somewhat messy and fed to the AI for better ordering and structure of long-form essays which often get out of hand! *shrug*
Rather than pretend that I am not willing to use AI, I am going to incorporate it more boldly and clearly, as well as start figuring out how to lower the footprint or create offsets, or just roll with it until we have better options, when available.
The AI is doing such critical things as testing Safety measures, as well as providing information about areas where I do not have full expertise — such as when I inquire it about determination of risk in both actuarial sciences, and in macroeconomics. I believe the answers, once generated, should become part of the documents in the codex and this work, once done, can be used downstream by the worldwide users of The Salaam Matrix.
It is important that such concepts are researched, established, and published once and for later use, so that the users of the Salaam Matrix will not have to reinvent the wheel or go on quests themselves, which will ultimately save costs and “footprint”.
How we are using and not using AI is a still not a fully determined matter, however what I can define are my values, and my values are of care, and minimal extraction of Earth’s resources and assets. This is what I stand behind and this determines how I choose to work with AI. However this is currently not a black & white, clear-cut matter of ZERO AI use. If you are readnig these words, you are using AI, and a number of other resources.
I cannot eliminate the use of of one kind of resource fully while indulging in others that may also impact planetary life adversary; what I can and do do, is to have a “basket of actions” within which I trade to lower my overall footprint. I remain mindful of other implications about AI, including issues pertaining to ethics, the nature of intelligence, and even the offbeat thematics such as transhumanism, specie-level concerns, and questions about the nature of reality. Those are open registers of concern in my life and mind, and I aim to discuss those on appropriate platforms more suited to thematic discussion.
